MAKE IT OR BREAK IT
WITH THE RIGHT NEEDLE
BALL POINT/JERSEY NEEDLES
The rounded, ball point tip on this needle promises
to slip through your knits, spandex, or sweater-like
materials with ease rather than potentially damaging
the material by stabbing with a point.
SIZES: 70/10 - 100/16
INSIDER INFO: When incorporating knits
or sweater fabrics into your project, try out
this rounded end for less damage to your
top material.
LEATHER NEEDLES
Crafted to have a triangular, arrow-like point, this
needle tip will easily pass through leather, suede, and
vinyls without tearing the material. Since these needles
feature a tip known for piercing and cutting into fabrics,
it is best to stitch more slowly and carefully with these
needle types to prevent irreversible piercings.
SIZES: 70/10 - 110/18
TOP TIP: Rather than backstitching with this
needle, tie off the ends to prevent puncturing
the leather surface repeatedly, which can
cause perforation.
METALLIC NEEDLES
We’ve all faced frustration with metallics, but
sometimes it’s the needle and not the thread! Metallic
needles are designed with a fine shaft and larger
eye, which will in turn prevent shredding or breakage
of your thread. The large grooved scarf on this
machine needle also allows for less skipped stitches
and is often called a “must have” in any notions kit.
SIZES: 80/12 and 90/14
INSIDER INFO: These needles are often used with
those sparkly threads we love, but are also great
to use with a mono-filament or clear thread.
