The next machine step is the stippling. Stippling is used to fill in
the negative space on a quilt block.

The next step is the tacking stitch, which will tack the appliqué
in place. After, trim the remaining appliqué fabric as close to the
tacking stitch as possible.

After completing the embroidery steps, it’s time to work on the
folded fabric borders. Run the first placement stitch for the folded
fabric borders.
After stippling, the next machine step is the placement stitch for
the first appliqué. Place your appliqué fabric on top, making sure
to cover the placement stitch completely.
Once you have trimmed the excess fabric completely, run the
remaining embroidery steps until the fabric borders.
TIP: If the block you are working on has additional appliqué,
simply repeat steps H through J, until you get to the embroidery
steps.
Next, place the folded fabric right side facing down. Make sure
that you overlap your placement stitch by at least 1/8” and double
check that your fabric will cover the entire placement stitch, plus
1/2” seam allowance once folded over.
