and welcoming in an atmosphere that
encourages learning. Some classes may
deal with diets of various types from
weight loss to gluten-free, while others
will be inspirational, as instructors help
students to express the artistic soul that
is within them.
Obviously, there is some cross pollination
here, as food has long been a subject
for drawing, painting and photography,
and related to the use of clay vessels that
come from the pottery wheel. Thus, it was
clear to the center that a large investment
would have to be made to reap the benefits,
as the center’s leaders continue to set
the pace for our community for art and the
personal satisfaction that comes with it.
A Recipe for Success Wall will recognize
food arts project donors who will also
be recognized on the donor circle listings
at the entrance to the center. However,
most of those behind the bold move are
doing so because they believe in the project
and its potential to open up the arts to
more people and to help the Dunedin Fine
Art Center become even more of a symbol
for culture in the community. The center
has achieved this before with its Wearable
Art Fashion Shows that expanded the
theory of fashion as art, along with its
exceptional jewelry making classes. The
center’s forward-looking leadership has
the vision to do what has not been done
before, and does it well. 9
