The sensational “Jewels of the Imagination” exhibit on
display through March 31st at the Museum of Fine Arts
in St. Petersburg is the largest and most comprehensive
public collection of the creations of Jean Schlumberger,
the French jewelry designer who was known for his incredible
use of precious gems. Schlumberger was inspired by nature
when he worked with Tiffany & Co. in New York City from
1956 until his death in 1987. His innovative designs were
sought after by style icons such as Jackie Kennedy, Audrey
Hepburn and Dianna Vreeland and by socialites such as Bunny
Mellon. His jewelry and objets d’art are glittering examples of
mid-century elegance that more than stand the test of time.
