MARCH/APRIL 2019 | TAMPA BAY MAGAZINE 161
Design at The Dali,”
a complimentary
13-week program, was
attended by 30 students
from 18 high schools in three
Tampa Bay area counties.
The participants designed
and created ensembles that
reflected their interpretations
of what they learned about
Salvador Dalí and his art.
These works of wearable art
were modeled at a fashion
show at Neiman Marcus in
Tampa as a benefit for the
museum.
Summer Purks of Plant High
School in Tampa modeled this
Dalí-esque outfit she created
after attending the museum’s
educational design program.
Dessert First is an unforgettable evening where guests taste one-of-a-kind desserts created with Girl Scout cookies by inventive
chefs from some of the area’s favorite restaurants. The event featured cocktails, a plated dinner, silent/live auctions, a live band, and
raised funds for the nearly 19,000 girls in Girls Scouts of West Central Florida. The Girl Scout organization began more than 100 years
ago in Savannah, Georgia, when Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low organized the first troop. The next year a troop was formed in Tampa.
Owen Lafave and his wife Jessica Muroff,
the CEO for Girl Scouts of West Central
Florida, where girls prepare for a lifetime
of leadership, success and adventure,
welcomed guests to the event.
The evening’s Honorary Chairs Victoria
and Jonathan Moore participated in
support of their daughter Lillian, who is a
local Girl Scout.
Former Girl Scout Pari Miller, a silversmith artist
and jewelry designer, and her husband Trever
Miller of Land O’ Lakes, a World Series alumnus
and former pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays,
enjoyed this festive evening.
Heather
Morey of
Tampa’s
Blake High
School won
an award
for the
rendering
of her
design.
