Run the tacking stitch for the base fabric. Since we will be adding
borders later, once tacked you can now trim away the excess
base fabric from around the tacking stitches.

Using a matching thread color, continue on to run the stippling
stitches in the block.

Take a piece of appliqué fabric and lay it right side up over the
placement stitches, being sure to cover them on all sides.
Your base fabric will look something like this once trimmed.
Follow your design’s numbered machine steps until you reach
the first placement stitch for a standard appliqué.
Proceed to run the tacking stitch for the standard appliqué. Once
tacked down, use scissors to trim away any excess material from
the tacking stitch.
