Moxxie: Do you get out and enjoy the mountains?
Myra:You know, a couple years ago I discovered hiking. Some
friends got me into it and that has challenged me beyond anything
I thought I can do. I never played in the dirt as a child and here
I am, hiking out in the mountains.
Moxxie: What does your future look like? What are your
big dreams?
Myra: My husband and I travel a lot. I think that when you have
flexibility in your job and you can come and go, it makes life so much
more enjoyable. We don’t have children and there are pros and cons
to that. One of the pros is that we can pick up and go when we want
to. I don’t know that we’ll ever “retire”. I don’t really sit idle. I have a
lot of energy. I think we’ll always be doing something. We’ll just have
to see. But the future is bright.
Moxxie: Your energy is quite palpable. It’s wonderful to see and
hear your excitement for this life you are still living. Clearly you
are a powerful woman, but I would love to know what superpower
you wish you could have?
Myra: Gosh, if I could have a superpower, boy, I’d love to be able
to see the future and know what’s coming and maybe be better
prepared for whatever’s out there.
Moxxie: I can appreciate that. Knowing the future couldn’t
necessarily be a bad thing. So, if that is a superpower you could
only hope to have, what is YOUR current superpower?
Myra: I think my superpower is my inner strength,
my determination, and my belief of “just go with it. Don’t sweat
the small stuff.”
Moxxie: Okay. So, let me ask you, if you had a stage for the whole
world to see for three minutes, what would your lyrics be for them?
Myra: It would have to be to learn to trust yourself. Be true to
yourself. When life gives you an issue or a challenge, so many times
we say, “Oh my gosh, that mountain’s too high, I can’t possibly climb
it.” But if you take one step at a time, and I know that’s a cliché, but
if you just take little tiny steps, you’ll get there. It’s not a race. It’s just
about getting there. It doesn’t matter if it takes you more or less
time than the next person, just finish it, get there, do it. But trust
yourself through the process
Moxxie: How do you feel when you hear that people say they can’t
do something?
Myra: I hate that, because I think a lot of people just think, “Oh,
it’s just too much for me. I don’t have the skillset,” or, “I’m not
equipped,” or, “I don’t have the resources.” But you do. Look for
them. Somebody you know has got something to help you. Have
a great circle of friends. Surround yourself with good people and
you’ll get there, and you can do it. Just don’t sell yourself short.
Moxxie: I love that Myra. I love your conviction and your passion.
Thank you so much for sharing and bringing your Moxie to the
studio today.
Myra: Thank you so much. I’ve had a great time. It’s been great
to dive back into myself. Thank you for this opportunity.
