law enforcement officials, the Board specifically prohibits the carrying of concealed weapons on school property.
When a student violates the prohibition on weapons, the Principal shall immediately make a report to the Superintendent,
who shall determine if charges for expulsion are to be brought before the Board. Unless the Board chooses to consider charges
on a case-by-case basis, the penalty for students bringing a firearm or other deadly weapon, destructive device, or booby trap
device to school or onto the school campus/property under jurisdiction of the District shall be expulsion for a minimum of twelve
(12) months (The Gun-Free Schools Act of 1994 and
K.R.S. 158.150). District employees must also report to law enforcement officials if they know
or have reasonable cause to believe that conduct has occurred that constitutes the carrying, possession, or use of a deadly
weapon on the school premises, on a school bus, or at a school- sponsored or sanctioned event.

19. EXTORTION
The solicitation of money or something of value from another student, regardless of amount, in return for protection or in
connection with a threat to inflict harm. (Level 2/Level 3) Actions may result in charges being filed with the court system
and/or being reported to legal and/or social authorities.
20. THEFT AND RELATED OFFENSES (KRS 514.040)
The taking of property of others (students, teachers, visitors, etc.) without their consent, possession of stolen property or possession
without owner's permission, or selling of school property. Value under $100.00 (Level 1 or 2) or Value over $ 100.00 (Level
3 or 4) Actions may result in charges being filed with the court system and/or being reported to legal and/or social authorities.
21. LOITERING BY UNAUTHORIZED STUDENTS
Being on school grounds or in the school without authority or permission of school personnel. This would include students on
shortened programs, suspended students and students that have been expelled. A petition/warrant will be signed. (Level
2/Level 3) Actions may result in charges being filed with the court system and/or being reported to legal and/or social authorities.
22. CRIMINAL TRESPASS (KRS 511.060)
A person is guilty of criminal trespass when:
A. He knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in a dwelling;
B. He knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in a building or upon premises on which notice against trespass is given
by fencing or other enclosure;
C. He knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in or upon premises. (Level 2/Level 3 or 4) Actions may result in charges
being filed with the court system and/or being reported to legal and/or social authorities.
23. CRIMINAL USE OF NOXIOUS SUBSTANCE (KRS 512.050)
A person is guilty of criminal use of a noxious substance when he unlawfully deposits on the land or in the building or vehicle
of another any stink bomb, device, or irritant with the intent to interfere with another's use of the land, building, or vehicle. (Level
1/Level 2/Level 3) Actions may result in charges being filed with the court system and/or being reported to legal and/or social
authorities.
24. USE OF ALCOHOL, DRUGS, & OTHER PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES (KRS 158.150, KRS
218.A.020) Board Policy 09.423
Drugs, Alcohol and Other Prohibited Substances – No pupil shall purchase, possess, attempt to possess, use, be under the
influence of, sell, or transfer any of the following on or about school property, at any location of a school-sponsored activity,
or en route to or from school or a school-sponsored activity:
1. Alcoholic beverages;
2. Controlled substances, prohibited drugs and substances and drug paraphernalia; and
3. Substances that “look like” a controlled substance. In instances involving lookalike substances, there must be
evidence of the student’s intent to pass off the item as a controlled substance.
In addition, students shall not possess prescription drugs for the purpose of sale or distribution.
Definitions – Controlled substance means any substance or immediate precursor listed in Chapter 218A of the
Kentucky Revised Statutes or any other substance added by regulation under KRS 218A.020.
Prohibited drugs include, but are not limited to, any substance that an individual may not sell, possess, use, distribute
or purchase under Federal or Kentucky law.
Prohibited substances include:
1. All prescription drugs obtained without authorization, and
2. All prohibited substances however taken or used, including but not limited to, inhaling, ingesting, and/or
injecting. These include, but are not limited to, prescribed and over-the-counter drugs and prohibited volatile
substances as defined in KRS 217.900 that are used or intended for use for an abusive and/or intoxicating purpose.
