Art in
Clearwater
The Community
Redevelopment
Agency continued
to focus on the
arts, funding
three new murals
painted downtown,
two murals painted
on Cleveland Street
traffic barriers, and a
Wearable Art exhibit in vacant
storefronts along Cleveland Street. In
addition, the Planning & Development
Department coordinated the painting
of two intersections in conjunction
with the Lake Belleview and Skycrest
neighborhoods.
Cleveland Street
Streetscape
The Community Redevelopment Agency
partnered with Engineering to launch the
Cleveland streetscape project, including
facilitating public meetings and other
community outreach efforts.
Crest Lake Park
Parks & Recreation transformed Crest
Lake Park into Clearwater’s newest
signature park, combining the physical
beauty of a nature park in an urban
setting with multiple amenities for the
community and visitors to enjoy.
Downtown
Housing
The city is bringing
more housing to
its downtown. We
have entered into
three development
agreements for
apartments in
our Community
Redevelopment Area at
306 S. Washington St., 1250
Cleveland St., and 115 S. MLK Jr. Blvd.
Fleet Improvements
The city of Clearwater’s fleet was
recognized as one of the “100 Best
Fleets” in America for the fourth year in
a row, by the NAFA Fleet Management
Association. In addition, a Green Fleet
policy was approved by City Council.
Under this policy, the city will transition
its light-duty vehicles to those powered
by alternative fuels, such as electric or
hybrid vehicles. The city seeks to convert
100 percent of its light-duty fleet to these
alternative fuels by 2040.
Flood Insurance
Discounts
The Engineering Department
successfully completed Community
Rating System recertification in which
the city maintained a Class 6, saving
the residents 20 percent on their flood
insurance premiums.
Greenprint 2.0
Clearwater City Council adopted
Clearwater Greenprint 2.0 to advance
the city’s sustainability goals and aims to
reduce citywide greenhouse gas emissions
to 80 percent below baseline levels by
2050.
imagine Clearwater
The city began construction on its
downtown waterfront redevelopment
project Imagine Clearwater. Imagine
Clearwater includes an expansive park
and recreational spaces, a gateway plaza
and bluff walk that connects the park
to downtown. Other amenities include
a bay-walk promenade, a lake area with
picnic shelters, and an ocean-themed
play area. The additions to Coachman
Park also include an amphitheater that
can seat 4,000 people and can host
concerts and performances all year long.
