Miniature Art Show
The Miniature Art Society of Florida, which is based in Clearwater, held its 41st
Annual International Miniature Art Show, which was chaired by Michael Petryszak
at the Dunedin Fine Art Center in Dunedin. The 628 small size oils, acrylics, pastels,
drawings, porcelains, enamels, scrimshaws, sculptures, and mixed media works of art
selected for the show were created by artists from 30 states and seven countries. The
works of art in the prestigious juried show were displayed along with magnifying
glasses in order for viewers to fully appreciate their intricacies.
The International Miniature Art Show’s opening was preceded by the Society’s
Annual Awards Brunch at Bon Appétit Restaurant in Dunedin, which was chaired
by Carol Baker Curtis.
Kids Tag Art Pinellas
The Kids Tag Art project has elementary school
students creating unique vanity tags that will be
sold online to raise funds for arts education in Pinellas
County. An Awards Ceremony was held at the Capitol
Theatre in downtown Clearwater, where students and
their artwork were recognized. This program gives
students the opportunity to expand their horizons
and learn about the economic benefits of art. You can
purchase an art tag at kidstagartpinellas.org.
GRAM
Pinellas County Tax Collector Diane Nelson facilitated this community partnership that serves to
increase awareness of the arts, while raising needed funds to help support arts education.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The 10th Annual Taste of Safety Harbor was, once again, presented
by the city’s Chamber of Commerce at the Safety Harbor Resort

High School’s vocal group “Unaccompanied Minors.” A 50/50
raffle was also held to benefit the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch.
Pete O’Shea of WTIS AM 1110 was the evening’s emcee.
Michael Shaluly, the chair of the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce
board of directors, presented Tampa Bay Magazine’s publisher Aaron Fodiman
with the Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award, as Susan Petersen, the
Chamber’s executive director, looks on.
