Popeye made a grand entrance
in this Jim Warren painting.
His talent was recognized immediately when he won
first prize at the Westwood Art and Craft Show in 1975.
In the art world, surrealism consists of unusual and
unexpected arrangements and distortions of images. For
Jim, however, it is only another word for “fun.”
In 2014, Jim followed a suggestion by his son Arte to
“loosen up” and paint in an abstract style that Jim calls his
Pop Culture Series. He chose this method for the January/
February 2015 Tampa Bay Magazine cover that featured a
portrait of its publisher.
