The Bayshore is home to several independent arts
councils—in Highlands, Atlantic Highlands, Keansburg
and Keyport—that foster creativity and community in their
respective towns. Take in an art class or a show at the
Middletown Arts Center, an award-winning, state-of-the-art
facility.
The Two River area is filled with countless arts and
entertainment options. Red Bank—home to the Count
Basie Center for the Arts, Two River Theater, Jazz Arts
Project, Phoenix Productions, multiple art alliances and
community music organizations—is the go-to spot for
non-stop arts action. The region is home to numerous
galleries and museums that feature changing exhibitions:
The Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury, Beauregard Fine
Art in Rumson, the Art Alliance of Monmouth County,
Detour Gallery and Stillwell House Fine Art & Antiques in
Red Bank, and the Monmouth Museum and CVA Gallery
at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft.
The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank is New
Jersey’s premier center for the cultural arts, dedicated
to fostering powerful, inclusive artistic experiences
and creative exchange of ideas. Now in its 95th year,
the Basie has just completed a $28 million expansion
project, adding a second performance venue, barrier-free
amenities and a dedicated arts and education building,
and it has been a leader in providing safe, socially-distant
opportunities to experience performances. Also in Red
Bank, the Two River Theater, a professional nonprofit,
presents both classic and new plays and musicals, as
well as a variety of programming and community events.
In 2020, it unveiled its 36,000-square-foot expansion, the
Center for New Work, Education and Design, and adapted
its programming for virtual presentations.
The Jersey Shore region is alive with art and culture.
The Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal, Monmouth
University’s Pollak Theatre and Center for the Arts in West
Long Branch, and the New Jersey Repertory Company
in Long Branch present year-round productions from
local playwrights as well as interpretations of well-known
theatre. The music and art scenes in Asbury Park have
