Dear Visitor:
On behalf of the Monmouth County Board of County
Commissioners, I would like to thank you for your
interest in learning more about Monmouth County,
as it is truly a wonderful place to live, work and visit.
We know visitors just like you can travel to Monmouth
County time and time again and still have new
experiences and memories to take home with you after
each time you visit.
Monmouth County, located along the Jersey Shore, is
just about one hour away from both New York City and
Philadelphia and is easily accessible by car, train, ferry
or bus. Fifty-three municipalities are located within
Monmouth County, each with their own attractions and
year-round events that are sure to draw back visitors
year after year.
One of the best things about visiting Monmouth County
is that you can choose the type of vacation or weekend
getaway you desire. From a family vacation at the beach
to a spa weekend getaway, I am confident you will be
able to enjoy the type of trip you’re looking for next
right here in Monmouth County.
I also encourage visitors to take advantage of
our Monmouth County Park System, which has
achieved national accreditation status among park
and recreation agencies! Our park system includes
141 miles of trails and more than 30 park areas to
explore, as well as numerous public golf courses spread
throughout the area.
If dining, shopping or live music is what you’re looking
for, Monmouth County has plenty of that, too! Home to
some of the best restaurants in New Jersey, foodies will
be pleasantly surprised to know many of our eateries
use produce grown right here in Monmouth County.
Don’t worry—there is plenty of shopping to do on our
main streets and in our downtowns that will help you
work up an appetite! I then recommend watching local
and national talent perform in one of the many indoor
or outdoor music venues in the area.
For arts and culture enthusiasts, I invite you to check
out our intriguing art galleries and enjoy live theater
performances while visiting. For those interested
in history, I encourage you to explore the many
historical sites that call Monmouth County home,
including locations that played a role in the American
Revolution.
