While the phrase “new normal” is almost assured to be a large part of our 2021 summer, one of the
Jersey Shore’s premier entertainment destinations isn’t new at all. Businessmen and socialites have
attended Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport since 1870. Fast forward over 150 years, and
Monmouth Park is still bringing excitement and family fun to locals and tourists alike.
In recent years, Monmouth Park has expanded its entertainment offerings to include more than
a dozen family-friendly festivals and activities, world-class thoroughbred racing May through
September, year-round sports betting and fine dining—meaning Monmouth Park’s “new normal”
(but really just “normal normal”) is local, inexpensive, summertime family fun.
On the festival front, Memorial Day weekend means food trucks, Labor Day weekend means BBQ
and craft beer, and in between enjoy Italian, seafood, Mardi Gras and more. On the track, summer’s
biggest party continues to be the $1 million TVG.com Haskell Invitational—to run this year on
Saturday, July 17—featuring the world’s best horses.
