Dr. Cohen graduated with honors from Harvard College in
Mathematics and completed his medical training at Harvard
Medical School in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and
Technology Program. He completed his retina training here in
Florida at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of
Miami. He is a clinical professor of ophthalmology at the University
of South Florida School of Medicine. In 2011, he was chosen by
ophthalmology residents to receive the David D. Donaldson, MD
Clinical Faculty Teaching Award. He holds multiple patents for a drug
delivery device for sustained release drug to the posterior pole of the
eye and has a patent allowed for a contact lens for macular surgery.
Dr. Cohen has more than 60 published papers and abstracts in peer
reviewed journals. He has spoken at national and international
retina meetings. He is a partner in Retina Vitreous Associates of
Florida, and he works at offices in Clearwater and Saint Petersburg.
Dr. John J. O’Brien began his surgical career more than 24 years ago.
As a board certified plastic surgeon, he has performed thousands
of surgical procedures and is well known for his extraordinary eye
and expertise. He focuses on a one-on-one personal approach
with patients, and has a comprehensive plastic surgery practice
with a fully accredited surgical facility. He has a full medical spa
that offers skin care, injectables and minimally invasive procedures.
He is a past president of the Tampa Bay Society of Plastic Surgeons
and the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Mark Hepp was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Franklin and Marshall
College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and received his medical
degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.
He completed his internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson
University Hospital and his cardiology fellowship at Albert Einstein
Medical Center, both in Philadelphia. He joined Clearwater
Cardiovascular Consultants in July, 1995 with specialization in
non-invasive cardiology, including echocardiography and nuclear
cardiology. He was president of the Children’s Heart Foundation,
Florida Chapter, where he was instrumental in raising awareness
and funds for congenital heart defect research. He is board certified
in cardiovascular disease and is also an affiliate assistant professor
at the University of South Florida College of Medicine.
Dr. Paul Phillips is a graduate of Williams College and the University
of Virginia Medical School. He completed his internal medical and
cardiology training at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical
Center in New York City. He joined Drs. Donald Eubanks and Michael
Williamson in 1982 to form Clearwater Cardiovascular Consultants.
He served as managing partner and helped orchestrate his group’s
expansion to become the area’s largest cardiology group, offering the
full spectrum of subspecialty care in the diagnosis, treatment, and
research of cardiovascular disease. He established the echocardiography
laboratory and nuclear cardiology service at Morton Plant and remains
interested in non-invasive cardiac testing. He practices cardiology
in both the office and hospital settings. He is an affiliate assistant
professor at the University of South Florida and has won awards for
clinical and teaching excellence.
