fort has been a struggle. But currently, she believes
she has “a really good team.”
As far as the recipes and the quality of her
food, Piatt does a lot of research when it
comes to what foods go best together.
There’s usually a theme to the juice or
smoothie based on the ingredients. For example,
Inflammation Fix, which includes
ginger, turmeric and cucumber, is, naturally,
for treating inflammation. Piatt explains
that cucumber is good for your GI
track, soothing your intestines and ginger
and turmeric are good for your joints.
While some people take pills for joint and
back pain, you can get the nutrients in your
juice, she counters. Focus Pocus, made of
ginger and beets, is good for mental clarity
and blood flow and can be consumed before
you study or work out. Any of the fruits and vegetables
are delivered by a supplier on a daily basis,
so nothing ever sits on a shelf for more than 24
hours.
Piatt initially opened in Park Ridge, but a year and a
half later in March 2018, opened her second location in
Montvale at The Shoppes at DePiero Farms. As a resident
of Montvale, opening in her community was important to
her. She wishes she had something like Beets when she was
growing up. But even now, she doesn’t believe that there
are enough healthy eating options in her area, which makes
getting the community on board with healthy eating all the
more significant.
Nicollette Poveromo, a frequent customer at Beets, says,
“It takes a truly amazing person with a huge heart, an ambitious
mindset and a passion for healthy living to create
such a successful, lovable place like Beets.”
This described success could be because Piatt has allowed
the store to reflect herself and her mindset. The interior
is full of detailed woodwork and inspiring mantras
that she designed. She seems to have created a welcoming
environment for customers and in turn, a
local business they’re happy to support.
