The History of Florida, edited by the late
Michael Gannon, tells both the horrors
and the glories of the last 500 years here
in our land of sunshine. Gannon, who was
known as the “Dean of Florida Historians”
at the University of Florida, assembled
23 other leading historians to give this
book a wealth of perspectives to provide
a balanced view of Florida’s sweeping
history throughout the centuries. The book
is published by the University Press of

Holiday Lights
in the Gardens
The Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo will present its
18th annual “Holiday Lights in the Gardens” event from
Friday, November 23rd until Sunday, December 30th from
5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This fundraiser features more than
a million twinkling, colorful LED Lights and vibrant laser
lights. There is a lot to see, and you can purchase food and
drinks as well as seasonal décor items and gifts. The nightly
entertainment will include visits from Santa. The gardens are
accessible for the handicapped, and well-behaved dogs are
welcome. This winter wonderland is at 12211 Walsingham

ingredients, Seasons 52 has
launched a fixed-price menu
that allows guests to choose a
soup or salad, entrée and miniindulgence
dessert for only
$29.95. This harvest special is
being offered in addition to the
regular menu until November
21st. By then, the new winter
menu will be in full swing,
as Seasons 52 continues to
serve the freshest items, along
with seasonal cocktails and
recommended wine pairings.

Harvesting Hope
Eckerd Connects will hold its 11th annual
celebration (formerly called the Jingle
Jangle Jam) on Thursday, November 15th
at Nielsen in Oldsmar. This evening with
friends, family and community partners
will benefit the youth and families served
by Eckerd Connects. In addition to dinner,
there will be numerous auction items, such
as tickets to see Andrea Bocelli in Orlando in
February and a seven-night trip for four to
