The Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University,
founded in 1966 and one of the largest
university art museums in the United States,
seeks to make art relevant to all through a
variety of engaging educational programs,
tours, talks, concerts, family workshops and
more. Zimmerli’s permanent collection offers
an overview of Western art from antiquity to
the present day, with strengths in American
and European art, as well as an unparalleled
collection of Russian and Soviet nonconformist
art. The museum features changing special
exhibitions that are global in perspective.
Admission to Zimmerli Museum is always free.
Hours: Tuesday–Friday, 10 am–4:30 pm and
Saturday–Sunday, 12–5 pm (closed Mondays,
major holidays and the month of August).
