Old Bridge Township Department of Parks & Recreation
is dedicated to preserving open space, obtaining more
than 1,500 acres of recreation space over the past 30
years. With over $12 million of New Jersey Green and Blue
Acres grants, Old Bridge has developed over 300 acres
into playgrounds, sports fields and recreation space. Old
Bridge has one of the largest inventories of municipal open
space in New Jersey.
For all-around family fun, visit Mannino Park, home to the
Old Bridge YMCA, a dog park with separate areas for large
and small dogs, a large playground and a ball field. The
Laurence Harbor beachfront features a 3-mile running and
biking path parallel to the Raritan Bay. The ice arena in
the municipal complex hosts public ice-skating sessions
October through April.
Consistently voted one of the best libraries in Middlesex
County, the Old Bridge Public Library serves as a
community center. The library provides access to books in
12 languages, numerous periodicals and other materials,
and access to educational online resources, creating an
interactive center for learning, recreation and study, 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. An Idea Farm makerspace
offers 3D printing, robotics and sewing classes. The library
also offers monthly concerts, museum passes and a
delivery van, and is a designated US Passport Acceptance
Facility.

Find fun family events throughout the year in Old Bridge,
with a Memorial Day Parade, Salt Water Day in August and
Old Bridge Day in September at Old Bridge Waterfront
Park in Laurence Harbor. In June, the Mayor’s Family Park
Party invites residents to kick off summer by disconnecting
from electronics and reconnecting with family and
neighbors at Geick Park, with activities by township
sporting leagues, fitness, dance and yoga classes, a
Health & Wellness Fair, and the first performance of the
Summer Concert Series in the Park. A variety of musical
genres fills the evening for live concerts every other
Thursday in July and August. The Parks & Recreation
Department hosts fun fall events such as the Haunted
House and the Spooktacular. For full listings of events,
please visit www.oldbridge.com.
Beyond the obvious signs of progress, old farm buildings
and place names like Browntown call the past to mind.
Like in many New Jersey towns, the centuries from Native
American trails to today’s cell towers present a rich history
and much to be discovered.
