CHOOSING
COLORS FOR YOUR
BARN QUILTS
Creating a barn quilt doesn’t have too
many rules! They are generally created
to be eye-catching, and can display vivid
quilting patterns and motifs. Though quilts
are often done in soft or muted tones,
you’ll find barn quilts in competition for the
brightest and prettiest display for visitors.
FABRICS
The larger A size of these barns utilizes
a piece of standard appliqué below the
barn quilt, so get creative with what you
use! Solids will help your threads pop, but
patterns can make your barn quilt unique!
THREADS
We chose a variety of Floriani threads to
create our barns, sticking to more neutral
taupe or sepia tones for the barns, leaving
the focus on the colorful pops of thread in
the barn quilts.
NOTIONS
You’ll want a pair of appliqué scissors on
hand for the barn quilt base appliqué in the
larger file sizes, while a rotary cutter and
ruler will be needed to trim the designs to
your desired finished size.
