At night when I get in bed,
I feel so anxious that it is
hard to sleep. I’m worried
about everything for
hours. What can I do to
have more peace at night?
I have struggled in the past with anxiety,
and it always seemed to hit at
night when I was so tired and ready
to go to sleep. Then my mind would
start taking over, and before I knew
it, I was overwhelmed to the point
I almost couldn’t breathe. This was
a battle for me. The way I overcame
it was with two words: Worship and
the Word. Both are so powerful, and
both bring peace to your mind and
your heart. My favorite scripture that
helped me through anxious times
brought me out
into a spacious place, He rescued me, because
He delighted in me.” This scripture
brought me through some pretty
anxious times in my life. When
you are dealing with anxiousness, it
suffocates you and presses you down,
but God’s promise is He rescues us
and brings us to a spacious place and
a spacious place is a place where you
can breathe and move and rest!! So I
-
ture which brings peace to you and
memorize it! That way when you feel
that anxious feeling come over you,
start speaking that scripture in your
heart and mind and let the peace of
God wash over you and it helps you to
trust God with all your worries. And,
worship!!!! I would sing a worship
song in my mind until I would drift
off to sleep or play it on my phone.
Worship is powerful because it sets
the atmosphere of peace. I hope this
help. Give it a try, and if you can’t remember
anything else, just say the
name of Jesus because there is power
in that name too!
I am afraid to talk to my
friends about Jesus, because
I don’t want them
to think I’m judging
them. How do I share Jesus
in a way that makes
them want to know Him?
First, let me start by saying I’m so
proud of you for wanting to share
Jesus with your friends. So many
people are intimidated to witness
and talk about God to others
because we feel like we have to
preach to them. But that is actually
the last thing we need to do! No
one wants another lecture or sermon;
but people do need to know
and feel the love of God in their life. This happens by you living your life
love is kind...” Pray and ask God to help you walk in His love and to give
you a boldness to speak to others, and He will open the door for the
opportunity. When the door opens just talk about God, and how He has
helped you through situations. Talk about the goodness and faithfulness
of God in your own life. Make it personal and tell your story. What has
God done for you and how has He loved you and set you free? No one
can tell your story like you can. By doing that, you allow them to see the
love that you have for your Heavenly Father and that makes God shine
bright through your eyes. Hopefully, they will see Him in a new way and
receive Him as their own.
ASK
I am starting my freshman year of college, and I’m
wondering how do you continue to glorify God
while living in a college town?
Something I have heard and quoted for a long time: “Show me your
friends and I will show you your future.” This is such a true statement
because you truly do become like the ones you are with the most. Choose
your inner circle wisely and surround yourself with Christian friends
that are like-minded and seeking the same things. The right friendships
help to keep you built-up and accountable. You can still have a lot of fun
with the right people instead of trying to have fun in the moment and
living a life of retreat for the choices you make. Extend yourself to others
whenever I am helping and serving others, it helps me want to live right
says: “
Let this verse lead you as you seek to live for God during this season of
your life. Guard your heart by keeping the Holy Spirit close to you. He
will help you and lead you to make the right decisions; and when you
mess up, He is there to forgive you as well.
