“If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one
who believes.”
Mark 9:23 NIV
I want to believe life is better than this.
I want to believe healing is on the way.
I want to believe you are doing a new thing. I
want to believe I am forgiven.
I want to believe, despite how bad things look, you’re still good. I
want to believe, but Lord help my unbelief.
When things in the natural fail, we begin to filter God through our
experiences, and we live in the lie that something is impossible for God. How
often I’ve approached God praying from my unbelief versus standing on the
promise that God does not see through my eyes, He does not think like me,
and He has much better intentions than me.
But let’s get real, what happens when we believe for the healing, for the
relationship, for the lost to find their way, for hatred in our world to end, but we
still end up broken hearted? What happens when I believed God for a
miracle, but I sit here in misery? The simple answer: I do not know. We live in
a broken world and might not get the answers on this go around.
The complicated (and comforting) answer is there is healing in trusting what we
don’t know in the hands of who does.
There’s so much more that we learn about God in the valley than on the way to
the mountain top. If I never walked through the sting of heartbreak, I would
have never experienced the strength of God’s grace. It was in this valley that I
believed the lie that I was not enough because of rejection. I learned in the
valley that if God is all I have, He is enough and in Him I am enough.
God is bigger than our brokenness. It is this perspective of God that helps us to
silence the lies and renew our minds which leads to renewed strength, abilities,
and possibilities with God. God is only limited by our unbelief.
God will build you up after you’ve been torn down, He will give you dancing for
mourning, and He will make everything beautiful in its time. Not if He can but
if we can believe.

What limits are you inviting into your life with your thoughts?
Where can you begin to renew your thoughts around God’s ability
not your inability to believe?
