CHRISTIANITY

And…it has changed a lot!
Imagine a world without television, without computers,
and without the internet. Imagine a world
where the only phones were connected to wires,
and they all had dials. Imagine a world with polyester
bell bottom pants and white belts! Okay, you
get my point.
The world has changed. Today, you probably carry
a smart phone in your bag or pocket which has
more computing power than everything NASA used

main of sailors or bikers. This is the world in which
your parents and grandparents grew up. In many
ways they are probably confused and bewildered by
your “normal.”
The changing world of technology, morality, and yes,
fashion, are also causing some people to challenge
the faith of the generations who went before them.
Can Christianity stand the test of time? Should
order to have any stability and security, our faith
must be grounded in more than the winds of public
going to have faith at all, it has to have some sort of
bedrock, some sort of anchor which you can rely
on when things get tough. Fortunately, Christianity
offers just that.
First, we have to remember that Christianity is
founded upon the unchanging and unchangeable
Word of God. The Bible is very clear on this sub-

(NKJ). God doesn’t change, and His Word doesn’t
change. But what does it say? Your grandmother
may have grown up with some ideas about how a
Christian girl should act; your mother may have
grown up with another; your ideas may not match
either; however, what grandma thinks, or what mom
thinks, or even what you think, doesn’t really matter
unless it agrees with the Bible. It’s what God thinks
that matters, and He lays it out meticulously in His
Book. So, let’s explore a little bit about it.
The Bible makes it very clear that God loves us.
Probably the most quoted verse in the Bible is John
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish, but have eternal life” (NASB).
Imagine a parent who would allow his own child
to be mistreated, beaten and killed, so they could
save the lives of the very people who put his child to
death. That is what God did for every one of us. His
love for us is unfathomable to the human mind. It’s
also consistent. He loves us the same every day, no
matter if we had a good day or a bad one. He loves
us the same whether we love Him back or not. His
love is not conditional. His redemption, however,
is conditional. The Bible is clear that we must have
faith in order to be saved, but we don’t do anything
picture of a father’s love. Jesus is telling a story to
illustrate how much God the Father loves us. Go
and read it. I can just imagine a father looking down
the road every day hoping that his lost child will
return today, and then on the day when he sees him
coming in the distance, he runs to embrace him and
welcome him back. That is a picture of God’s love
for each of us.
