The seventh annual MUSE Awards will be presented
by the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance on Friday,
February 28th at the Museum of Fine Arts,
St. Petersburg. This annual benefit for the alliance
will recognize the art and culture in St. Petersburg.
The alliance will pay tribute to those individuals who
inspire and guide the city to its standing as an international
arts destination.
This fun evening avoids the traditional form of a
fundraiser. Instead, it is an evening of provocative musings
and muses with live performances of music, art and other
cultural creations, as guests enjoy gourmet bites, creatively
crafted cocktails and decadent dessert bars. This party
consistently features surprises to delight and amuse the
area’s most creative forces, who mix and mingle there.
Guests also will enjoy the MFA exhibit, ”Art of the
Stage: Picasso to Hockney.” The exhibition features more
than 100 studies for scene, costume, curtain and program
designs in addition to sculptor’s sketches and costumes
from the 19th century to the present day. The MUSE
benefit will be designed to complement the museum’s
exhibition.
Internationally acclaimed glass artist Duncan McClellan,
who helped start the warehouse phenomenon in
St. Petersburg, will be recognized with the 2020 MUSE
Arts Ambassador Award for being a stellar representative
of St. Petersburg, the “City of the Arts.”
Lillian Dunlap and Jaye Sheldon of Your Real Stories,
which challenges people to talk and listen to perceived
differences using storytelling and the magic of theater,
will be presented with the MUSE Literary Arts Award
for their excellence in the written word.
The MUSE Performance Arts Award will be given to
Suzanne Pomerantzeff in recognition of her performances
presented to audiences.
Hal Freedman and Willi Rudowsky have been chosen
as the 2020 MUSE Patron of the Arts for the time and
treasure they generously spread throughout the area in
support of arts organizations. They are the epitome of
this award.
D. Yael Kelley will receive the 2020 MUSE Visual
Arts Award for achieved excellence in the visual art
of painting. 9
