VISIONS FOR 2020
Paul Anderson
CEO, Port Tampa Bay
Port Tampa Bay is coming off a record-setting year. My vision for 2020 is
to continue to build on the success of our diverse operations, empowering
the international trade, tourism and transportation communities with
state-of-the-art infrastructure and exceptional connectivity. I will ensure
the port continues to create economic opportunities and prosperity. Our
three new container services and our proximity to the one of the fastest
growing distribution center corridors in the nation will help our region
and state thrive. We are focusing on optimizing the port’s efficiency as
an energy gateway, enhancing navigational access and delving deeply
into cargo supply chains to grow business opportunities. The port is also
generating more cruise options for passengers and now hosts all major
cruise lines including Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line,
MSC Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Holland America.
George Cretekos
Mayor of Clearwater
There is much in store in Clearwater in 2020, where it is “bright and
beautiful from the bay to the beach.” Since I cannot seek reelection
because of term limits, residents will elect a new mayor and will fill two city
council seats in March. The current city council and administrative staff
will continue its work on the city’s highest priority – Imagine Clearwater –
the implementation plan for the bluff and downtown revitalization. Other
significant projects include completion of the North Marina/Seminole Boat
Ramps redevelopment plan, work on the Crest Lake Park improvements,
the Phillies agreement extension, finalizing a Sister City relationship
with Bourges, France, and continued support of our local economy and
neighborhoods with an emphasis on workforce housing and sustainability.
Julie Ward Bujalski
Mayor of Dunedin
“Delightfully Different” Dunedin, which has Major League spring
training, a world champion pipe band, two top 10 beaches, the No. 1 park
in the state, the largest teaching art center in the state and a downtown that
is the envy across Florida will continue to dream big in 2020. We will have
“Opening Day of Spring Training” in our newly refurbished stadium. We
will also complete our long-term sustainability plan, The Dream Initiative,
which we believe will help us be a statewide model for environmental
stewardship. And we cannot forget the rollout of our Public Art Master
plan, where we will integrate art in everything that is Dunedin. Dunedin
will forge through 2020, dreaming big and promoting life “Dun” our way.
