The St. Petersburg Pier in the form
of an inverted pyramid stood as a
symbol of the city before the pier was
demolished. We are now awaiting
the opening of its replacement with
great anticipation. However, many
will remember the old pier and their
experiences there, such as dining at
the Columbia Restaurant with its
fabulous views of Tampa Bay.
The old Skyway Bridge once joined Pinellas
County with Manatee County to the south.
When it was destroyed by a freak accident, it
was replaced with the new Sunshine Skyway
Bridge, a modern marvel built to withstand the
