Giacomo Puccini’s romantic portrayal
of Bohemian life in the Paris Latin Quarter
almost two centuries ago, La bohème, will be
performed at the historic Sarasota Opera
House beginning Saturday, February
8th through Saturday, March 21st. There
will be 13 performances of this love
story, which is a favorite of both opera
newcomers and devoted fans who enjoy
its familiar melodies. There are real time
English translations that make it easy to
follow along with every glorious note.

Art of the Stage
The Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg will be
exhibiting “Art of the Stage: Picasso to Hockney” from
January 25th through May 10th, a collection of more than
100 scene, costume, stage and program designs. Artists
such as Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, David Hockney
and Robert Indiana are included in the show, which
has been culled from the McNay Art Museum in San
Antonio, Texas. The MFA will be collaborating with arts
organizations such as the Sarasota Ballet, La Lucha Jazz
and The Florida Orchestra to present live performances
during the run of the exhibit. The Museum of Fine Arts

detailed miniature artworks
during the annual exhibit of
The Miniature Art Society
of Florida at the Dunedin
Fine Art Center. This year’s
45th international juried
show will begin January
19th and continue through
February 9th. Most of the
800 works that will be on
display may be purchased.
Besides paintings, there
will be fired porcelain,
pastel, colored pencil and
sculpture art in miniature.
The 148 artists chosen for
the show represent 30 states
and eight countries.
