To accomplish this, the north façade of Ruth Eckerd Hall
was torn down to allow the previous 1,000-square-foot
lobby to expand six times to a massive 6,000 square feet.
This new space is highlighted by three-story high, floor-toceiling
windows that entirely change the ambience of the
hall. There has been a modern makeover of the Dress Circle
Lounge adjacent to the new grand lobby for Circle of Stars
members that doubled its size to include a second bar on
the ground level. Members will also experience a new level
of pre-show hospitality by having access to twice as many
amenities, such as the additional wine dispensary, so that
becoming a member of the Circle of Stars has become even
more desirable than it was previously.
The renovations began with the widening and expansion
of the roadway leading to the hall from McMullen Booth
Road, plus changes to the main parking lot. The addition
of the two lanes helps to expedite patrons’ arrivals and
departures. Along with these changes, a new arrival
plaza has been built to give patrons more room to drop
off passengers, or valet park, or to temporarily park on
non-show days while purchasing tickets at the renovated
Raymond James Central ticket office, which has modern
ticket windows and a substantial overhang to provide
protection from the elements.
The overall effect is sensational, and it further helps to
establish Ruth Eckerd Hall as one of the finest performing
arts centers in Florida, the United States and the world. It
is no wonder that the City of Clearwater is proud of this
important entertainment organization, which works so
diligently to provide the ultimate in cultural activities for
members of our community. 9
