THE FLORIDA AQUARIUM Helen Hardin exhibit at
James Museum
The James Museum of Western
& Wildlife Art in downtown St.
Petersburg has a special exhibit
of the work of Santa Clara Pueblo
artist Helen Hardin (1943-1984),
who is known for her strong sense of
individualism and modern linear style.
The look for her Native American art
uses intricate geometric compositions
filled with detail. Her meticulous work
is well suited to the etching process.
The exhibition features all 23 first
editions of her copper plate prints.
There are also other works by women
artists who were connected to Hardin
through family or their Santa Clara
heritage. The show will continue until
March 1st.
Dr. Lansky Holiday Brunch
The Florida Aquarium Breaks Attendance Record
Not since it opened 24 years ago has the Florida Aquarium
had this type of attendance. Over 840,000 visitors
filled the aquarium in its last fiscal year that ended on
September 30. It was more than a 5 percent increase over
the previous year. Roger Germann, president and CEO of
The Florida Aquarium, says this attendance growth shows
that people do care about saving wildlife and preserving
our blue planet. He attributed the increase in attendance
to new guest experiences, great customer service and the
growth of the aquarium’s mission. The 841,424 guests
during the past 12 months is only surpassed by the 992,000
people who visited The Florida Aquarium the year it
opened in 1995. 9
