PROJECT 138
TEA BAG BOOKMARKS | ANITA'S EXPRESS | 229
OCTOBER 2020
Choosing the correct fabrics will make these designs pop!
These charming bookmarks are just the thing to hold your
spot in that good read! We've crafted up these 12 tea bag
inspired designs that each feature bean stitches and delicate
satins, from florals or botanical elements to quaint phrases
for tea lovers and book aficionados alike.
In order to create a bookmark that won't fray over time, using
felt will be your best option for both the bag and tag portions
of the design. One of the benefits of using felt lies in its
ability to be cut with a raw edge without fear of unraveling or
shredding, making it the perfect base for raw edge designs.
To mimic the look of a real tea bag, a 9" piece of string,
twine or embroidery floss will get inserted at the start of
the design below the tea bag's main fabric. If your favorite
book happens to be longer or shorter than the string calls
for, you can easily adjust the length to your preference. With
the string added into the main design, you can then run the
decorative embroidery for one of 12 charming designs or
sayings that will pair perfectly with a good book.
Stitch these out for stashing in your own reading nook, or gift
several in a tin to a tea-loving book reader in your life!
