ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN
Constructing your Opulent Blooms blocks is easy if you just
follow a few steps! To create your quilt block, you’ll need
two types of files. First, you’ll need to stitch one of the OBFP
design files. These are the flower petal files that will turn into
the freestanding floral elements. You will want to stitch these
onto two layers of Wash Away. Once you’ve finished those
you’ll rinse the stabilizer away then set those to the side
to dry.
While the flowers are drying, you can go ahead and begin
stitching one of the OBB designs. These files are the quilt
blocks onto which you will be attaching the flower petals. A
simple circular marking stitch will annotate exactly where the
two petals will need to be placed, then tacked. The design is
finished with appliqué steps that cover the center with fabric,
then the embroidery decorates and finishes the center
appliqué piece.
Want to skip the quilt block and just make freestanding
flowers? We’ve got you covered. To do this, you’ll stitch your
OBFP design just like you would for the quilt blocks, but
instead of stitching one of the quilt blocks, you’ll load the
OBFC design. This design file just skips all of the quilting
steps and goes straight into the flower petal placement and
tacking stitches and finishes with the flower center appliqué
and decorative embroidery.
The number of your quilt block design corresponds with the
number of your flower petal design. For example, OBFP1
goes perfectly with OBB1, but keep in mind that you can also
mix and match your petals and blocks or flower centers!
