The studio has also offered a
“West African Drumming” class
in the garden for patrons to learn
rhythms on the Djembe, a type of
African drum. The classes feature
techniques and basic patterns
fueled by the vibrations of the
drum circle. Instructor and musician
Linda Marie has been playing the
Djembe for 10 years and suggests
a drum that is made of goatskin and
rope tuned, or one with a synthetic
head that won’t be affected by the
humidity.
Each class description and rate can
be found online. Those interesting in
taking a course can sign up directly
through the website.

Rhythms echo as students share a few laughs. All it takes is a bit
of focus and a unique set of drums.
