The running community
in Pensacola has several
signature events, including the
Pensacola Women’s Half-
Marathon, the ever-popular
Double Bridge Run, and the
McGuire’s Run — a St. Paddy’s
Day fun run and party scene
unmatched every March.
There is also the Santa Rosa
Island Triathlon on Pensacola
Beach in October that will
celebrate its 25th year in 2021.
College sports fans have options for various
sports and events at both Pensacola State
College and the University of West Florida.
For golfers, Pensacola’s legacy of its pros is
joined by courses with their own history. Perdido
Bay Golf Club hosted the PGA Tour’s Pensacola
Open. Marcus Pointe Golf Club was a stop on
the Hogan Tour. Scenic Hills Country Club once
hosted the U.S. Women’s Open, the only time
a U.S. Open championship has ever been held
in Florida. So, there is all that history on golf
courses open to everyone.
In tennis, Pensacola Sports puts on the
Pensacola Futures Championship for aspiring
pros and the Bud Light Charity Challenge, both
at the Roger Scott Tennis Center.
Sport fishing enthusiasts are attracted to
Pensacola for the annual International Billfish
Tournament and Pensacola Ladies Billfish
Tournament, both spanning more than four decades
of operation.
There are several major athletic complexes for
youth sports in Pensacola: Ashton Brosnaham Park,
a 117-acre facility with soccer and softball fields, the
Southwest Escambia Sports Complex with soccer,
baseball and football fields and the Roger Scott
Athletic Complex with swimming, softball, baseball,
basketball and youth football.
All of these sporting activities provide a vast array
of options for everyone, much like what Pensacola
offers in so many other ways.
