try stand-up paddle boarding, or SUP, as it is known along
the Barnegat Bay. This serene water activity has “paddlers”
standing up free on specially designed boards that they
propel across the water with a single long paddle. Although
it looks precarious, the well-balanced paddle board provides
a stable environment for any level paddler who is willing to
get wet a few times before getting the hang of it. The versatile
sport offers both accessibility for beginners and challenge for
practiced participants from lessons and guided tours up to

reference to “walking home every day over
Barnegat Bridge and Bay,” and this region
is still a beloved New Jersey treasure.
