Cattus Island County Park and the Cooper Environmental Center are OPEN. Come visit the newly renovated building with
brand new exhibits highlighting the natural beauty of the park and the Barnegat Bay. The 1000-ft. wheelchair accessible
ADA boardwalk is complete and now open.
Take in the unspoiled beauty of Cattus Island County Park, which spans 530 acres and 7 miles of trails. Take a leisurely
walk along the main trail to the beach, or follow a trail and enjoy many lovely vistas of Barnegat Bay. Cattus Island is
home to the newly renovated Cooper Environmental Center where visitors of all ages will enjoy hands-on educational
displays, such as a live view osprey cam, habitat tree and tunnel, bird viewing area, children’s activity corner and a
spectacular collection of live reptiles and fish. The park also contains a beautiful Butterfly Garden where you can view
native plants and pollinators.
Cooper Environmental Center is open weekdays, 8:30 am to 4 pm, and weekends, 10 am to 4 pm. The park is open daily
from dawn to dusk.
Facilities: Nature trails, scenic boardwalks, birding, photography, conservation area, environmental education, crosscountry
skiing, picnic area, playground, scenic overlooks, and accessible environmental center with restrooms.

Cedar Bridge Tavern County Historic Site E8

Cedar Bridge Tavern County Historic Site is a
fully restored c. 1816 Pinelands tavern that is
the likely location of the December 27, 1782,
skirmish that is the last documented land
engagement of the American Revolution.
Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders
purchased the structure in 2007. Renovations
began after former owner Rudy Koenig passed
away in January 2012. The restored tavern was
opened to the public in April 2019. Note: this
structure is not an operating tavern and does not
serve food or alcohol.
Programs include the annual commemoration
of the history skirmish to take place December
13, 2020, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (snow date
January 3, 2021). Other events include historic
themed nature walks, locally themed lectures
and various recreational programs such as
archery and Pinelands crafts.
Facilities: Visitor center in the restored c.
1816 tavern with exhibits on the history of the
American Revolution in the Pinelands and at the
Jersey Shore; the history of the building and
its succession of inhabitations; and Pinelands
history, industry, art and ecology. Visitor center
has public restrooms and an ADA walkway. The
building is open every day but Wednesday from
April through December. From January to March,
the visitor center is open on Friday, Saturday and
Sunday. Weekday hours are 8:30 am to 4:00 pm,
weekends 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Group tours are
available on request.
