SOUTHERN OCEAN BREW TRAIL
Surf & Sip the LBI Region with the Award-Winning
Southern Ocean Brew Trail on UNTAPPD
The Southern Ocean Chamber of Commerce established the first
brew trail at the Jersey Shore in 2017. This trail is one of the first
in the nation to be infused with non-drinking stops. In addition to
the featured breweries, other stops reflect our surfing history and
lifestyle. The Brew Trail proudly received the NJ Tourism Award for
its unique blend of arts, culture and local brews.
This is not a pub crawl, it’s an opportunity for enthusiasts age 21 or
older to experience our unique Jersey culture, meet local experts,
try authentic products and take part in the Long Beach Island
Region like never before. The program’s purpose is to build loyalty
for local brands and encourage visits throughout the year. The trail
launched with four craft breweries, Manaferkin in Manahawkin,
Ship Bottom Brewery in Beach Haven, Oyster Creek Brewing Co.
in Waretown and Pinelands Brewery in Little Egg Harbor. Other
featured stops include South End Surf ’N Paddle with board
shaping and customization, as well as stand-up paddle tours or
lessons; Ann Coen Gallery for local surf-related photography and
art; Jetty for surf-design apparel; the Tuckerton Seaport’s Surf
Museum; boat-building and surfboard workshops; SwellColors
Glass Studio & Gallery for glass and art classes; and the Southern
Ocean Visitor Center for guides, maps and information. The
trail provides an opportunity to check out locally designed and
manufactured surf-related products, as well as scheduling lessons
or SUP tours for future visits.
When you complete the trail you receive a Brew Trail koozie. Begin
by picking up a Surf & Sip brochure at any of the participating
locations or track your stops on the Southern Ocean Made website.
The Southern Ocean Made Surf & Sip Brew Trail is a verified venue
on the popular UNTAPPD app, so download or search there for a
digital guide. No purchase is necessary to enter or get validated.
Southern Ocean County’s trail was created to be enjoyed
throughout the year, it is not a timed activity and all entries
completed online or as map submissions qualify. Like good beer,
this trail is meant to be enjoyed at your leisure. Do not attempt to
take part in any surf activity or drive under the influence of alcohol.

Redefining Beach Culture for Families
with the Passport to LBI Program
The Long Beach Island Region provides many reasons and many ways for families
to gather, and there is plenty to learn while spending time here. The Passport to LBI
is an alliance of nonprofit organizations with a mission to encourage people of all
ages to explore LBI. Southern Ocean County Chamber coordinates the efforts of
the alliance so everyone can appreciate and help to preserve the natural resources
and historic richness that the area provides. Designed for families, home-schoolers
and visitors to dive deeper into the 18 miles of history, arts, culture and ecology
of Long Beach Island, this free program can be started at any time by picking up
a passport booklet and visiting sites and attending events scheduled throughout
the island year-round. Enjoy exploring while learning about the legends and
the science behind a favorite resort spot. The Passport includes Barnegat Light
Historical Society, Lighthouse International Film Society, LBI Historical Museum,
