the Jersey Shore

Ocean County is conveniently located for
visitors from the New York and Philadelphia
metropolitan areas, as well as from Canada
and the northeast. It has a wide variety of
attractions sure to please potential campers,
with a broad range of campgrounds.
Campgrounds in Ocean County offer an assortment
of options for camping, even for non-campers. If you
desire the all the comforts of home, you may want to
consider renting a cabin. Rental cabins range from
rustic to deluxe, including air conditioning, kitchenette
and full bathroom. Amenities vary from campground to
campground.
Attractions range from fishing and water sports along
the ocean and in Barnegat Bay to educational and
recreational options. Enjoy the wonders of nature as
you paddle on one of the numerous waterways in the
area. Many local campgrounds offer kayak or canoe
rentals, making your excursion effortless.
Each beach community has its own personality, from
Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights farther north to
Island Beach State Park and Long Beach Island in the

south. Whether it’s a dip in the pool or lake at your campground or
catching a wave at the shore, swimmers can check every box.
Those looking for a little fishing can take advantage of the lakes
stocked at many area campgrounds, hop on a charter boat for a
deep-sea expedition or take advantage of the many options available
on the waters of Barnegat Bay. Island Beach State Park is a fascinating
example of a preserved barrier island ecosystem and is home to foxes,
ospreys and other wildlife.
Out of the water, visitors can take in some local history by visiting the
Barnegat Lighthouse or brushing up on their maritime knowledge
at the Tuckerton Seaport. Viking Village in Barnegat Light can
transport you back to the early days of a small fishing community,
while Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant Beach is dedicated to
educating the public on all aspects of marine life and conservation.
For some high-energy thrills, many Ocean County campgrounds are
just a short drive from Six Flags Great Adventure. Many businesses,
services and tourist attractions in Ocean County offer special
discounts to active duty, reserve and guard members and veterans.
