Tampa’s Got the Blues
From the 1920s to 1960s, Central
Avenue was an exciting place for
musical entertainment. Famous
entertainers, such as Tampa Red, Ray
Charles and others, started right here.
Celebrities such as James Brown,
B.B. King, Ella Fitzgerald and more
performed there. Join Jim Weiss from
the Tampa Bay History Center and
hear their sounds and stories. Program
will be held in the Heritage Studio on
