SNOWBIRD SEASON
BRINGS SURGE IN
PROPERTY SALES
Linda Ross Preston
Thinking about selling? Now is
the time to prepare. We all know
which season is just around the
corner, and it’s not winter here in
Tampa Bay. It’s Snowbird Season. And,
Snowbird Season equals Real Estate
Season.
One of the busiest months of the
year for real estate sales in Tampa Bay
is December, with strong sales figures
generally stretching until May. Our
relatively balmy weather brings an influx
of buyers into the area, and coupled with
historically low interest rates, I expect a
particularly busy season.
If you’re thinking about selling your
home or condo within the next few
months, the time to start planning is
NOW, before the holidays sneak up
and life gets consumed with parties and
gatherings.
Here are a few tips to get you started:
• Take a look around the exterior of
your home and make a list of repairs,
such as painting or replacing any worn
surfaces. Take care of those items.
• Check out your landscaping. If it’s
looking a bit anemic, this is a great time
to spruce it up and get it into shape.
• Look at your décor with an objective
eye. Paint choices should be neutral and
pleasing to the eye. Is your flooring in
good shape? What about cabinetry?
You may also declutter a bit and
donate items that you no longer need.
• Meet with a professional real estate
agent for a thorough market analysis and
strategic marketing plan. A knowledgeable
agent will be an invaluable resource
as you prepare for a successful launch
onto the market. Proper preparation and
positioning of your property is key to a
successful transaction, and it’s what a
savvy agent does best.9
