Evidence-Based Programs
The Aging Well Center is honored
to host evidence-based programs that
offer proven ways through defined
research to promote wellness and
manage or reduce health concerns and/
or falls. Class size is limited. The center
sincerely appreciates several partners
and funders who help to provide the
evidence-based programs, including
Senior Citizens Services, Inc., Area
Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas,
Older Americans Act Title III D,
YMCA of the Suncoast and Pinellas
County Social Action Funding.

A Matter of Balance
This evidence-based, Boston University
program manages falls and helps to
increase activity levels. Participants will
learn to:
• View falls as controllable
• Set goals for increasing activity
• Make changes to reduce fall risks at
home
• Exercise to increase strength and
balance
• The program consists of eight,
two-hour sessions
• Pre-registration is required.
Building Better Caregivers
This evidence-based program created
at Stanford University provides tools to
caregivers regarding:
• Caregiver stress
• Dealing with difficult care partner
behaviors
• Getting help
• Making decisions about treatment,
housing, etc.
• Communicating effectively
with family, friends and health
professionals
• Dealing with caregiver and care
partner difficult emotions
• Planning for future needs
• Legal issues related to caregiving
• The program consists of six, two
and a half hour sessions
• Pre-registration is required
Chronic Disease Self-Management
Program
This evidence-based, Stanford
University program helps manage
health concerns, increase activity and
enjoy life more. Participants will learn
to:
• Manage pain
• Work with a healthcare team
• Manage other symptoms
• Use medication effectively
• Exercise safely and easily
• Handle difficult emotions, such as
depression, anger or guilt
• Communicate better about your
health with family and friends
• Problem solve
• Relax and reduce stress
• The program consists of six, twohour
sessions
• Pre-registration is required
Enhance® Fitness
This program is held in partnership
with the YMCA of the Suncoast.
This evidence-based group exercise
program uses simple, easy-to-learn
movements that motivate individuals
(particularly those with arthritis) to
stay active. Each session includes
cardiovascular, strength training,
balance and flexibility exercises.
The program is provided by Pinellas
County Social Action Funding.
• One-hour class held three times
weekly for 16 weeks
• Class size is limited
• For ages 55 or older
• Pre-registration is required

Aging Well Center Gallery
The Aging Well Center proudly
hosts the works of talented artists
through the Professional Association
of Visual Artists (PAVA), a non-profit
organization with more than 180
members in the U.S. and Canada.
PAVA’s mission is to provide member
artists with collaborative opportunities
to exhibit their work and to foster art
education, community art programs
and growth for emerging artists.
