Clearwater Gas System Celebrates the Opening of a
New Facility
Winter l Spring 63
Clearwater Gas System, a department of the city
of Clearwater, has been a mainstay within the
city for more than 95 years. When Clearwater
Gas System was chartered in 1923, it provided
manufactured gas to customers using coal, coke (a porous
fuel made by heating coal during
distillation) and other products. Fast
forward to today, natural gas energy is
delivered using a reliably safe-and-sound
underground gas piping distribution
system.
Most recently, Clearwater Gas System
celebrated the completion of a new
state-of-the-art gas facility at 777 Maple
Street near Downtown Clearwater.
The 41,600-square-foot facility will
serve as the main headquarters for gas
operations, administration, sales and
warehouse staff. The new facility ensures optimal delivery
of comprehensive services to numerous gas customers
and communities throughout parts of Pinellas, Pasco and
Hillsborough counties. It’s also worth noting that Clearwater
Gas System celebrated a 7-percent increase in new customer
accounts in 2019.
Despite recent news of some states considering a natural gas
ban, natural gas energy continues to be the most efficient
and affordable option for consumers requiring energy to
heat water, provide meals, dry clothing, power businesses
and fuel vehicles. While some energy groups are choosing to
stand by the “all-electric-isbetter”
message, the happy
medium for sustainable
energy is to integrate
innovative gas solutions
with offering customers
a choice that includes
improved affordability,
reliability and comfort.
Clearwater Gas System
will continue to serve its
27,000 gas customers
while continuing to offer
a wide range of services, including gas sales, installation,
maintenance, service and repair.
A grand opening celebration of the new gas complex will
take place Feb. 5 at 3 p.m., 777 Maple St. For additional gas
