Stitching Your Blocks
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
G H
Place the base fabric face up, covering the entirety of the
placement stitches on all sides. Make sure to leave 1⁄2” seam
allowance along the outer edge of the block.
Run the next machine step, which will be the tacking stitch
for the base fabric.
I J
Using scissors, trim away the fabric from the inside of the
block, along the tacking stitch. Do not trim any fabric from the
outer edges of the block, as you will need this for
seam allowance.
Once trimmed, your block should look something like this.
NOTE: Due to variation in designs, the base fabric will
be slightly different for each block. Please refer to the
numbered machine steps for specifics.
K L
Run the next machine step, which will be the placement
stitch for the first appliqué.
Place the appliqué fabric face up, covering the entirety of the
placement stitch. Be mindful of any areas along the outside
of the block, as they will need 1⁄2” seam allowance.
