ROSEMÅLING SQUARES

BY: ANNIE DOAR
The intricate decorative folk art of Norwegian rosemåling
gets the spotlight in this beautiful 4x4 collection. Each square
is bursting with florals, foliage and filigree. As a nod to the
traditional form of rosemåling paintings, we stitched the
swirling leaves and stylized flowers in primary and secondary
colors, such as red, blue, yellow, and green, on a cream
background for a striking motif.
Originally used as ornamentation on the walls, staves, and
furniture of homes and churches, you can stitch these small
4” x 4” designs on virtually anything! Use the blank block
included in this collection to make your own mini quilt to
hang on a wall as an homage to the rosemåling’s origin, or
stitch the embroidery on a project of your own!
