NOVEMBER 2020
PROJECT 141
It's all about the threads!
This collection is one of the few projects that requires
absolutely NO fabric! All you need to stitch each butterfly
for your garland is a layer of No Show Mesh stabilizer,
and the thread color of your choice! Since you don't have
to worry about matching your thread colors to a specific
set of fabrics, you can be extra creative when you select
your color palette. You can use one single thread color
to create your butterfly garland, but where's the fun in
that? Creating a garland using butterflies of multiple
colors will give it a fun vibe and create more interest.
For our butterfly garland, we drew our inspiration from
the colors of a sunset. We created a color palette
that was full of corals, pale yellows, sherbet oranges,
mauves, and muted purples. You can create your own
color palette in this manner by searching online for
pictures that draw you in, then matching your thread
colors to the colors in the image. You can also try using
keywords as you search online such as "mountain color
palette" or "beach color palette" to find images of color
palettes that have already been perfectly coordinated!
