My Clearwater
Murals Come to Life on City Streets
In recent weeks, residents of Clearwater’s Skycrest
neighborhood have found it impossible to avoid driving
over blossoming spring flowers. Fortunately, these flowers
are not in a garden, but rather can be found as a part of
the intersection at Mars Avenue and Rainbow
Drive.
In February, the Skycrest
Neighborhood Association and
the city partnered with local
artist, Beth Warmath, to
create a colorful mural at
the intersection. Warmath
designed a mural
displaying the beauty
and vibrancy that can
be found in a pollinator
garden.
“The Skycrest area is
surrounded by beautiful
parks, plants, flowers, colorful
homes, bee keepers, and all around
wonderful people, so it was really easy
to come up with a design that fits. We call it
‘Working Together’," Warmath said.

About two dozen volunteers from the community
contributed to the intersection mural. The event gave
residents an opportunity to work alongside their neighbors
to foster a sense of community pride.
The Paint the Pavement program is a part
of the city’s Placemaking Program,
which aims to help residents
beautify and activate their
community spaces. These
large murals bring neighbors
together to create a piece of
art that is truly theirs.
“This outdoor project
gives us a fun opportunity
to start building
community within our
neighborhood again. We
are very excited by that,”
said Skycrest Neighborhood
Association President JoAnna
Siskin.
