National Night Out Returns to Clearwater
After a year’s hiatus because of the pandemic,
National Night Out—a signature event featuring
the Clearwater Police Department and its team
of police officers—is scheduled to
return this year.
And it has a new location—
Countryside Mall, in the
southwest corner of the
parking lot nearest
Countryside Boulevard
and U.S. 19.
The event is planned
from 5 to 8 p.m. on
Oct. 5.
It’s a chance for
Clearwater residents
and others from
Pinellas County to get
to meet officers and see
some of the specialty units
the agency has. Among those
set to participate are the marine
unit, traffic enforcement, SWAT,
K-9, negotiators, communications center
and mounted patrol. Clearwater Fire & Rescue
and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office also will participate.

will not be offered by vendors. There
will still be plenty to see and do,
however, and it’s an event that is
especially fun for children.
“We’re looking forward
to seeing everyone at
National Night Out,”
said Police Chief Dan
Slaughter. “It’s a great
way for the community
to get to know our
officers and see some of
the tools that we use for
our jobs. It’s also a great
way to learn about how to
become a crossing guard
or volunteer, or any
other number of job
opportunities we have.”
