States.
10 Years ago - July/August 2005
By this time, our
“Best of Tampa Bay”
awards were voted on by
our readers. That year,
USF was voted “Best
University;” Doctors
Pallavi and Kiran Patel
were chosen as “Best
Local Heroes” for their
continuing generosity;
Opera Tampa took the
award for “Best Opera
Productions;” and UPARC’s “Catch the Last
Wave” party at the Clearwater Beach Hotel
was selected as the “Best Fundraiser,” just
before the hotel was demolished, prior
to its rebirth as the new Sandpearl Resort.
This issue featured our
second annual “Best of
Tampa Bay” winners. Among
those selected 25 years ago
were Tampa International
Airport, Dunedin’s Bon
Appétit, American Stage’s
Shakespeare in the Park,
the Museum of Science and
Industry, the Museum of Fine
Arts, St. Petersburg and the
Florida Orchestra, all of
which have remained on our
“Best Of” lists over the years.
