Pasco Education Foundation’s Culinary Competition
North Pinellas Cultural Alliance
The inaugural event of the North Pinellas Cultural Alliance,
entitled “The Art of Greece,” was held at Dimitri’s on the Water
in Tarpon Springs. Guests enjoyed a taste of Greek culture
through the culinary arts, music and images of the Mediterranean.
This newly formed group will provide leadership to enhance
and ensure the success of arts and culture in North Pinellas
County and its municipalities by promoting the collaboration
and unification of art, culture and history. 9

To celebrate its “Living Treasures,” the over 100,000 babies that have been delivered
at Morton Plant Hospital over the past 100 years, a reception was held at the Belleair
Country Club. The first baby was born at Morton Plant four days after the hospital
opened on January 1, 1916. It now delivers more than 2,000 babies each year at the
hospital’s Sarah Walker Women’s Center.
Bravura
Brunch
The 22nd annual Bravura Brunch,
sponsored by the North Suncoast
Associates to benefit The Florida
Orchestra, was held at the Safety Harbor
Resort and Spa. The Orchestra’s new
Music Director Michael Francis and his
wife Cindy were the honored guests;
John and Mary K. Wilson were the
event’s emcees; and a musical program of
Mozart’s “Oboe Quartet in F Major” was
performed by Orchestra members John
Upton, principal oboe; Samantha Bennett,
violin; Jonas Benson, assistant principal
violist; and Doniyor Zuparov, cello.
Teams of Pasco County Schools’
culinary arts students competed
by preparing desserts they hoped
would be selected to be served to the
300 guests at “A Vintage Fairy Tale,”
the Pasco Eduction Foundation’s 2016
Cinderella Ball fundraiser. Judging by
local experts in the field was based on
presentation, originality and taste. Teams
competed from Anclote High School,
Wiregrass Ranch High School, Fivay
High School, Land O’ Lakes High School
and Marchman Technical College. The
tasting competition in Land O’ Lakes
and the Ball in Trinity were co-chaired
by Sharon Wright and Cathy Peckett.
The Florida Orchestra’s Music Director
Michael Francis and his wife Cindy were
thanked by the Brunch’s chair Susan Siewruk
for the energy and excitement they have
brought to the Orchestra.
The culinary team from Marchman Technical
College won first place in the Cinderella’s
Favorite Dessert competition with their
“Dreams, Hearts and Wishes” dessert and its
spectacular centerpiece.
