At the time, John Wilson was
anchoring the 6 and 10 PM News
for Fox 13 television, and Mary K.
was teaching music and performing
with him throughout the Tampa
Bay area with groups such as The
Florida Orchestra. They provided
entertainment for a long list of
service organizations, as well as
at the City of Clearwater’s annual
4th of July celebration in Coachman
Park. Not much has changed for
them, except that John has retired,
and their son Mark has taken over
for him at Fox 13; their son Patrick
is a major movie star; and John is
working with their son Paul in his
advertising agency.
This issue contained an article by
Michael Milkovich, who at that time
was the director of the Museum of
Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. The article
explored the Museum’s Antiquities
Collection that contains ancient
sculptures, ceramics, mosaics, bronzes
and glass from the ancient civilizations
of Egypt, Greece, Rome and Etruria.
The Antiquities Collection exemplifies
man’s attempt to rationalize and
represent his world in time, space,
and spirit.
This marble Roman gravestone,
which dates from c. 150 A.D.,
is in the Museum’s Antiquities
Collection.
John and Mary K. Wilson
were the subjects of our
“A Look At...” article in
this issue.
This cover was a tribute to the
water that makes Tampa Bay the
unique place that it is.
