St. Petersburg Kiwanis Club’s 95th
An Evening with Artist Christopher
Still at the Tarpon Springs
Heritage Museum was part
of the 2017 Tarpon Arts season
sponsored by the city of Tarpon
Springs. During the presentation,
Christopher spoke about his art
education and his personal approach
to creating his renowned artwork.
After a question and answer period,
guests enjoyed flourless chocolate
cake from Currents Restaurant that
made the evening even sweeter.
J.C. Russell, the secretary of the St. Petersburg
Kiwanis Club, and Ronald Holehouse,
the club’s president, proudly welcomed
members, past presidents and guests to the
club’s 95th anniversary meeting and birthday
lunch. Club member Al Karnavicius presented
an entertaining and educational peek at
highlights from the service organization’s
archives of vintage minutes and photographs
that had been preserved and passed down
through the years. His quotes and observations
reflected life in St. Petersburg, as well as in our
country, dating back to when the club was
granted the city’s first Kiwanis International
charter on March 13th, 1922.

Stahl Family Supports Children’s Hospital
Kathy and Bob Stahl and their family, who have been champions of Johns Hopkins
All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg over the years, have announced that
they will match new donations to the hospital of $10,000 or more, until a total of
$200,000 is raised through the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Foundations’ Circle
of Care through June 30, 2017. Monies raised will help to continue the hospital’s
mission of keeping patients and families front and center, while expanding treatment,
research, education and advocacy.
In the past, the Stahl family has helped fund a state-of-the-art biorepository
at the hospital that houses DNA tissue and blood samples to help doctors and
researchers to find cures and prevent diseases for future generations. They were
also the first to name a special area at the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Research
and Education Building currently under construction. Join the Stahls in helping to
cure and prevent childhood diseases while training the next pediatric experts by
contacting the hospital’s foundation at (727) 767-4199. 9
